Hurry Up! What’s the point?
---------------------------
Okay, for all of you who are in a hurry, Mr. Timer is just a really nice
Macintosh timer. It’s the absolute BEST that I’ve ever seen! (Then again,
I am the author...) No, really... Mr. Timer is a great timer that offers
the following:
• Easy stopwatch-like counting up
• Easy Start/Stop/Reset/Display
• Auto-update, a feature for easy and nice updating
• Countdown, in seconds, of selectable times
• Selection of many different cursors via Cursor menu
• Nice, easy to use, user interface
• Easy, organized, menus
• Ability to select the font size, and the styling to go with it!
• Animated cursor while counting down
• System 7 Savvy, with balloon help
•• And many, many more!!
So, do you get the point? Great! Please, read on!
New Features Since v2.0
-----------------------
Here’s a list of the new features since the last version, v2.0:
• Can countdown in 1, 2, 5, and 10 minute intervals
• Can now select text size, from 9 pt to 18 pt
• Larger main window
• About Box style is slightly different, and “more attractive”(?) :)
• Can now select the text style
• Autoupdating turn on menu item is now in the Timer menu, eliminating
the need for the Control menu, cutting down some of the extra space
used by it in the menubar
• When the countdown is finished, something special happens -- try it!!
• Menu Changes -- different things in different places; easier to
understand than before.
• Documentation in plain ole’ text; I’m using Rich Siegel’s BBEdit Lite
to write this. The documentation that is in text, is also
formatted in the “setext” format -- please don’t ask about it. I
thought it would be welcomed for those who use such a program that
can read “setext” format. Note that the “setext” format used in this
documentation file was developed by Ian Feldman. Hey, just giving the
credit where it belongs!
• Minor bug fixes; made the code a little “slicker”
• And probably more that I totally forgot about!!
How Do I Use It?
----------------
If you have System 7, I strongly reccommend using Balloon Help. I’ve added
Balloon Help to all the menus and items. It’s really a big help.
Here is a brief outline of the menus:
[APPLE] Timer Countdown Cursor Text
[APPLE] -- Apple Menu
About Mr. Timer... -- Standard About Box ... click to get rid of
Timer -- The timer counting up functions
Start Timer -- Starts the stopwatch-like timer
Stop Timer -- Stops the stopwatch-like timer
Reset Timer -- Sets the stopwatch-like timer to 00.00 seconds
Display Timer -- Prints the current time on the screen; useful if you’ve
disabled autoupdate by holding down the OPTION key.
Update On -- Turns back on Autoupdate if you’ve disabled it by holding
down the OPTION key for 1-2 seconds.
Quit -- If you don’t understand this, tell me how you launched it? :)
Countdown -- This menu has the counting down features
1 Minute -- counts down for 60 seconds
2 Minutes -- counts down for 120 seconds
5 Minutes -- counts down for 300 seconds
10 Minutes -- counts down for 600 seconds
Text -- This menu is for styling your text
9 Point -- Changes the font to 9 pt
10 Point -- Changes the font to 10 pt
12 Point -- Changes the font to 12 pt
14 Point -- Changes the font to 14 pt
18 Point -- Changes the font to 18 pt
Plain -- Changes the text to plain style
Bold -- Changes the text to bold
Italic -- Changes the text to italic (doesn’t look too good, though)
Outline -- Changes the text to be outlined
Shadow -- Changes the text to be shadowed
Chicago -- This area is for expansion; the only current font is Chicago; this
will hopefully be a list of every font in your system file.
Selecting this does nothing.
